About PAU
PAU, the civic association, was founded in 1992 and between 1992 and 1994 worked as a group of educational experts within the framework of NEMES (Independent interdisciplinary group for the educational reform). A range of creative teachers participated on the NEMES document for the Czech educational system reform. Since 1994 PAU operates as a selfcontained organisation for teachers, parents, students, school workers, clerks and politicians. In 1999 PAU became one of the founding organisation of SKAV (Permanent conference of the associations in education). Within its framework PAU is a major contributor in the creation of the new strategy of the state educational policy. Most of the common ideas and intentions was successfuly put through it. Among others PAU also co-operated on the so called Green book and White book development. These days PAU focuses on the practical impacts of the educational system reform.
PAU ambitions
The executive board has changed in spring 2007, but our ambitions stayed the same. PAU wants to assist effectively the Czech educational system with improving the quality, efficiency and humanization of education.
PAU activities
PAU is a specific organisation with no intention to turn into a megalomaniac educational institution remote from educational reality. Every year PAU holds regional and nation-wide meetings in order to supply or intensify the teacher’s qualifications. That also helps the schools to fulfil their roles, not just as educational institutions, but also in democratisation of the whole of society. The PAU members, lecturers and friends are the active teachers, who participate in improving the quality of the educational system by forwarding their own ideas, inventions, experiences of the specific lessons etc. to other active teachers, schoolmasters and headmasters. At the particular PAU meetings there is always a very pleasant atmosphere created by people tuned to the same wave-length, who enjoy working with children. PAU wants to keep participating on the efficient transformation of the education, occupational education of the teachers and educational policy. We reach out to all schools equally, we share information and we offer further education. We focus on teacher’s class work, headmaster’s school work and we also react to the questions about everyday educational practice. To realize the PAU ambitions successfuly we necessarily have to co-operate with teachers from various regions of Czech Republic. They are much closer to the schools in their surroundings and they know best the needs of the local schools, teachers and headmasters.
